Skeptics Smeared As Holocaust Deniers, ADL Silent

"Inappropriate Comparisons Trivialize the Holocaust" - Abraham Foxman, ADL Director

While the ADL moved quickly to denounce Dr. Spencer, it appears unwilling to defend him and other climate skeptics from reprehensible analogies to "Holocaust deniers".

Ellen Goodman

"Let's just say that global warming deniers are now on a par with Holocaust deniers."

Ellen Goodman, Boston Globe (2007)

Al Gore

- Al Gore (1989)

"I wonder whether such a show, if concerned with denial of the holocaust of world war II, would have been conceived?"

Andrew Glikson, Australian National University (2012)

Chad Kister, Environmental Activist (2008)

Charles Larson

"The deniers of climate change are cut from the same cloth as Holocaust deniers. They’ve never been to the death camps, Auschwitz and Birkenau, so what they haven’t seen does not exist."

Charles Larson, American University (2013)

Chris Mooney

"The obvious reductio ad absurdum is Holocaust deniers: Should their perspective be provided, for "balance," any time someone writes about the Holocaust?"

Chris Mooney, The Intersection (2006)

Clive Hamilton

"Climate deniers are less immoral than Holocaust deniers, although they are undoubtedly more dangerous."

Clive Hamilton, Charles Sturt University (2009)

Craig Rosebraugh

"Fox [News] is far and away the extreme example. They’ll have a known holocaust denier debating a holocaust survivor."

Craig Rosebraugh, Environmental Activist (2013)

Chris Huhne

"Giving in to the forces of low ambition would be an act of climate appeasement. This is our Munich moment."

Chris Huhne, U.K. Energy and Climate Change Minister (2011)

David Fiderer, The Huffington Post (2009)

David Roberts, Grist Magazine (2006)

Donald Prothero

"There are many more traits that the climate deniers share with the creationists and Holocaust deniers and others who distort the truth."

Donald Prothero, Occidental College (2012)

George Monbiot

"Almost everywhere, climate change denial now looks as stupid and as unacceptable as Holocaust denial."

George Monbiot, The Guardian (2006)

Greg Craven

"When the press does a story on the Holocaust, do they give equal time to the revisionists?"

Greg Craven, Central High School, Independence, Oregon (2010)

"I asked Lucht if he would give similar treatment to anti-vaccine activists or Holocaust deniers."

James Hrynyshyn, The Island of Doubt (2009)

James Powell

"Those who abjure global warming are not skeptics; they are deniers. To call them skeptics is to debase language as much as to call the Ku Klux Klan "prejudiced," Holocaust deniers "biased," or Flat-Earthers "mistaken."

Margo Kingston, Webdiary (2006)

Mark Lynas

"I wonder what sentences judges might hand down at future international criminal tribunals on those who will be partially but directly responsible for millions of deaths from starvation, famine and disease in decades ahead. I put this in a similar moral category to Holocaust denial."

To bad these people don't know the difference between denying a known historical fact (the Holocaust), and questioning (as scientists are supposed to do) an extremely tenuous hypothesis based entirely in computer models that were unable to predict the "pause" in warming over the past 15 years.

Is ADL obtuse, politically motivated or suffering moral bias?

early recognition of the problem, from an unlikely source (then quite new to the debate)

"I’ve been following the global warming argument closely of late and I’ve noticed both sides often fulfill Godwin’s Law. Global warming advocates liken skeptics to Holocaust deniers (akin to a Nazi). Skeptics compare Al Gore’s public awareness campaign to Nazi-like propoganda. It’s lazy debating – why discuss the issues with facts and logic when you can easily write off your opponent with a derogatory label?"

It's a straw man - no one that I know of denies that climate changes. And if anyone is a "climate change denier" it's those who think it didn't change before we arrived on the scene. Again, it's a straw man argument.

The problem is that none of these individuals are willing to admit that science findings are meant to be challenged. There is no such concept as consensus in the field of science that would not still be open to challenge. Clearly, these comments reflect a closed mind and a lack of scientific training. The models used to precict climate are seriously flawed and inaccurate. The examples of missed predictions fills a page. The tactic of calling skeptics deniers is straight out of the works of Saul Alinsky who taught the 70s generation of socialists that "when one cant win with facts, turn to ridicule and name calling". This current crop of name-callers, having no firm, uncontroversial facts, turn to ridicule and ridiculous analogy. Hopefully they will soon be seen as the actual deniers, who refuse to examine the raw data to see that the consensus is bogus.

The past is definite. It can be examined. These morons believe the future is equally knowable. That is a delusion.

It's the usual crap! If you counter any of the questionable areas that threaten their greatest source of grants and free funding, the finger points, and you instantly become a Racist/Nazi/Denier/Etc.Etc.Etc. .. It ALL about money folks. Al Gore has one of the LARGEST carbon footprints of any American and very likely 'the' largest. The other talking heads screaming Environmental Racist/Denier, are too busy flying all over the world to amazing parties and like-thinking gatherings of talking heads, that just burned tons of jet fuel in private jets for themselves, and their friends to tell you and your friends that YOU should start paying 'carbon taxes' to support their lifestyles through grants and funding's.. So folks like Justin Trudeau, can once again fly the largest contingent of doe eyed followers to another international meet and greet to brainstorm how they can lay another useless tax to support this global fraud..
